She is an Indian Bollywood Actress and Interior Designer. She made her debut with the blockbuster film Mohabbatein in 2000. Her portrayal earned her the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the year.
She was a contestant in the reality show, Bigg Boss, in 2009 and she later participated in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (2015) and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi in 2019, and became one of the finalists.
She did her schooling at the St. Anthony’s Girls’ High School, Mumbai.
After completing her degree in Commerce from Sydenham College, Shamita did a fashion designing diploma from SNDT college Mumbai.
After this, she started her internship with ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra, but Manish saw a spark in her and suggested prep her for her acting career.
In 2011, Shamita decided to follow her passion for Interior Design and did her first solo project by designing Royalty, a club in Mumbai. Later, her love for interior design pushed her to do a diploma from Central Saint Martins and Inchbald School of Design in London.
Shamita in 2021, as a participant was part of Bigg Boss OTT as well as Bigg Boss 15. Other renowned celebrities who also participated in the Bigg Boss 15, were Karan Kundra, Jay Bhanushali, Vishal Kotian, Tejasswi Prakash, and Umar Riaz.
